THE MOTHER ROSARIO BULLETIN 1

Many activities are planned in connection with the beatification of Mother Rosario Arroyo, the Foundress of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines . The members of the Mother Rosario Arroyo Commission (MRAC) has decided to put up a Bulletin which will be published weekly to make known the life and virtues of Mother Rosario, O.P. to facilitate her speedy beatification .

It is the hope of the Commission that the beatification of Mother Rosario will be realized for a deeper spiritual renewal and transformation of the Church, the Congregation and the society.

We therefore encourage the Sisters, Ilongos and friends to join the Congregation in an intense and zealous prayer for this noble intention.

Our deepest gratitude to all those who have helped us so far in the process of research and dissemination.

Special thanks to Father Samson, OAR, General postulator in Rome , for the help he has extended to the Commission.

The MRAC Journey Mother Rosario Arroyo Commission
By: Sr. Visitacion Alecto, OP
Chairperson, MRAC

The Mother Rosario Arroyo Commission (MRAC) was organized in December, 2004 in response to the Acts of the 9th General Chapter Article No. 58 to promote the beatification of Mo. Rosario Arroyo. Mo. Felicitas Macsera, former Prioress General appointed Sr. Epifania Brasil, OP as chairperson. Members were Sr. Virgilia Rivero, OP, Sr. Ma. Luz Mission, OP, Sr. Alma Amancio, OP and Sr. Eleanor Garlito, OP. They were tasked to:

1. gather data about the life of Mo. Rosario and document them;
2. inquire how to go about the process of beatification;
3. make her known especially in our schools and others through brochures and komiks

The idea was presented by the Commission to Archbishop Angel Lagdameo who expressed his support in his letter dated February 9, 2005 for the beatification of Mo. Rosario. Prayer for Mo. Rosario was approved by Archbishop Lagdameo. This was distributed to our schools and friends.When Sr. Epifania left the Congregation last June 2005, I was asked to take over her work.

July 24, 2005 was the 80th foundation day of the Congregation. The sharing of the life and virtues of Mo. Rosario was included in the activities so that she would be known better by the Sisters especially the younger ones. There was also media coverage of the celebration. Father Honorato Castigador was invited to grace the affair and to share his experience as Asst. Postulator of the Dominican Philippine Province with the Commission.

In December 2005, Mo. Celestine Bancal , OP was elected Prioress General of the Congregation. I was officially appointed chairperson of the Commission. The members are: Sr. Virgilia Rivero, OP, and Sr. Eleanor Garlito, OP. In June 2007, Sr. Delfina was assigned to the Motherhouse. She was requested to help the Commission reorganize the museum. This year, 2008 Sr. Ascension, being assigned to the Motherhouse is an additional manpower to the Commission. She expressed her willingness to help and she is tasked to gather photos relevant to the work of MRAC.

Prayer for Mo. Rosario was revised and was approved by Archbishop Angel Lagdameo on May 20, 2007.

June 14, 2007 was the 50th death anniversary of Mother Rosario. There were triduum prayers for her and a tape about her life prepared by the Commission was shown as a loving tribute to her. Fr. Julius Jacobres officiated the Eucharistic celebration.

Last May 2008, with the visit of Father Samson Sillorequiz, OAR, postulator general in Rome for the Cause of Saints, the Commission was given a clearer direction of the procedure for beatification. It is a long and tedious process. Hopefully with our persevering efforts and God's grace all shall be well.

On June 6, 2008 Mother General wrote Archbishop Angel Lagdameo a formal letter of request to open the cause of beatification. The Archbishop will be consulting the other Bishops in the Metropolis. The members of the commission are working hard collecting more data. A plan of action is formulated. Hopefully we will soon see the process formally opened and completed with the help of the people God is sending us and with the guidance of Mother Rosario and our Lady of the Rosary, patroness of the Congregation . We need your help in promoting the cause.

Letter Received:

I was so grateful upon seeing the monument where the name Mother Rosario Arroyo was engraved. This happened when I was walking around the garden, at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Molo. I stood in front of this monument and said a prayer for my daughter who went to Bacolod to take her TSE exam.

I was not much concerned about this TSE she took. What is important for me, is that she passes a licensure test for nursing board then the CG, and be back home successful.

Standing in front of this statue I felt the need to ask the intercession of Mother Sayong, not as a test but as a need for my daughter.

So months passed by and the result arrived (Jan.,2004), unmindful of the message my daughter told me waving the envelope with the rating “ PASSED”.

In silence I held my feeling and said, “Thank you Lord, thank you Mother Sayong, thank you”. I know she listened to me and answered the need of my daughter, SHEILA MARIE YCOY LOCSIN.

All for the glory of God, and all the Saints who answered our prayers. MADRE SAYONG is here ALIVE, praying for us.

Note:

Mrs. Erlinda C. Ycoy joined her Creator last July 8, 2007. This letter was presumed written by her when she was still alive. I was supposed to give this to my father for him to give to Sr. Visit but due to my hectic schedule I forgot to do it. It was June 19, 2008 , while I was reading the Daily Inquirer that I spotted the portion “ Beatification Drive for Mother Rosario Arroyo”. I guess this is Mother Rosario's way of tapping me that I should submit this letter of Nanay. It was truly she who led me directly to that page where the announcement was written

Definitely even to her death NANAY really wanted the whole world to know the MIRACLE that Mother Sayong has done to us. This was her unfinished mission here on earth that she was not able to proclaim Mother Sayong's greatness here on earth. I'm sure it was Nanay's spirit that led me to her room that's why I found this letter.

Submitted by: Maria Glenda C. Ycoy 3 rd child of Jorge Ycoy and the late Linda Ycoy.
