THE MOTHER ROSARIO BULLETIN 10

New Year challenges the people of God to a new life -meaningful and purposeful life. Mother Rosario understood this challenge as seen in her life. Her love and trust in the Mother of God as she grew in age became very evident. Second to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament which absorbed her mind and prayer she had developed a deep respect and devotion to the Mother of God. The rosary had become her most loved prayer. She spent her free time praying the rosary. As she went around the convent she offered the Ave Maria to all the statues of the Blessed Virgin.

"Love begets love". In return through the prayer of the Mother of God, Mother Rosario had internalized the meaning of religious life. She became a symbol of a true religious - living the vows and observing the Rules and Constitutions faithfully, spreading the rays of love and hope especially for the sick and the poor. Mother Sayong poses for us a challenge. New Years means hope, new life. May 2009 encourage us to lead a meaningful and purposeful life. They say that if there is a will there is way. Following the example of Mother Rosario may we be able to start anew and become truly Christ-like.

Gikan so Molo, binun-ag Mother Rosario
Pinili kag palangga sang aton Ginoo
Paghigugma, pagpangamuyo kag pagtuo
Nangin sadsaran kag bahin sang kabuhi mo

Natawo nga yara sa kahamungayaan,
Samtang ginpili pangabuhi sa kaimolan
Malulo kag maloloy-on ang pamatasan
Siya mahugod sa pagserbisyo sa tanan

Mangaranon kag matinu-ohon ang ginikanan
Nagdako maayong halimbawa sa kabataan
Nagsulod bilang madre nga Dominican
Gugma kag pag-alagad sa Dios ang kabangdanan

Sa mga katawhan handa sa pag-alagad
Wala kondisyon ang iya pagpanghatag
Duna nga kaalwan sa iya ang manggad
Pagpakasantos nasulat sa iya palad

Mabakod kag mapag-on ang iya pagtuo
Nahimong maayong huwaran nga Kristiano
Adlaw kag gab-i ang pag santo rosaryo
Maukod nga gintutun-an ni Jesukristo.

Nagpati ang sacripisyo may maayong bunga
Mapag-on ang pagsalig sa Diosnong paghigugma
Ginpakita ang matinlo nga panghimanwa
Nagbatyag iya tagipusuon sing kasadya

Life and Virtues of Mother Rosario

February 77, 1884 was grace-filled day for the people of God. First, it was the birth of a child destined for greatness in the church. The only daughter of a wealthy couple she left behind her inheritance in favor of the service of God, embracing the life of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Second, this day signaled the birth of the Congregation which she founded to spread the good news of salvation throughout the world.

Suppose Mother Rosario chose to live a different state of life, would there be a Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Molo? Perhaps no perhaps yes. But there might be a congregation of different name and conditions.

  • her love for prayer especially to jesus in the Blessed Sacrament where she was always absorbed for hours and where she derived wisdom and strength;
  • her trust in the Divine Providence which enabled her to freely surrender her earthly possessions for the love of God and the benefit of souls entrusted in her care.
  • her charity for God shown both in her personal relationship with her sisters and anyone she came in contact with specially the sick and the poor
  • her practice of poverty in her personal life and her love for the poor and the needy.
  • and finally for her humility and simplicity
Has the example of Mother Rosario affected us? Hopefully Mother has not lived in vain. Hopefully we are trying our best to become like her. On the occasion of her birthday we are being challenged. Shall we accept the challenge?

We all believe that sanctity is a personal endeavor and to become a saint will require personal struggle. It is difficult to follow the path which Jesus himself has shown to us. "The kingdom of heaven suffers violence and only the violent can bear it away", if others can do it why can't we? We are very happy that we have Mother Rosario as our role model to follow. It was not just easy far her to live the life she had lived but because of her greet love for God she forgot the difficulty and allowed God to guide her on the path which has been prepared for her. What is only necessary therefore is for us to intensify our love for God and God who not be outdone in generosity will reward us for our persevering effort.

My Lord Jesus Christ tell my soul: follow me at the death on the cross', in order that by dying like you on earth, I may reign with you in heaven. Amen."

One day in November 2008 while watching the TV I happened to see two Dominican Sisters being interviewed regarding the beatification of Mother Rosary Arroyo.

I was aware of the tremendous outpouring of grace from the Divine Power through the intercession of the candidate for Sainthood, I resolved to visit Mother Rosario's resting place to ask healing for a very sick friend who had cancer that had affected all her vital organs. I made my first visit middle of November 2008 and the second visit a month after. Then I visited my friend Bingbing (Lourdes Maroma) at the Saint Paul 's Hospital last week of November. I was told that she was already discharged. Her family had decided to bring her out and to wait for any eventuality at home, since no further treatment was given except for the pallative ones. Her wish was to be able to hang-on until Christmas. So in my prayer I appealed to Mother Rosario "here's a difficult case for you, if you make her well, she will make you a saint." My friend's condition improved by the day. All the tubes were removed. She could eat well, talked and went on short walk around. She had stayed for Christmas and New Year with her loved ones and I'm sure our Lord through Mother Rosario will heal her completely.

I was still small when I heard of the only daughter of a famous and wealthy couple the Arroyo family. Her name was Rosario . She followed the footsteps of her parents.

Rosario was very lovely. Her face looked like that of the Blessed Virgin Mary. When she entered the convent. the neighbors were amazed because she was the only daughter, rich and beautiful. She could have had a luxurious life but she chose a different kind of life. She was not fascinated by the riches of this world, instead she embraced voluntary poverty and self-sacrifice. She donated her inheritance to the congregation.

I pray for her beatification because her exemplary life couId serve as a model for our present generation and much more for the Sisters in the congregation in which she is the Foundress.

My mother and Mother Rosario were very good friends. They were approximately of the same age and they were together when they were studying at the Sta. Catalina in Manila . I heard many stories about Mother Rosario from my mother. My mother said she was very rich and she did not use her wealth for herself instead she gave it to the poor. She founded e free school in Molo. She gathered the poor children with the intention of teaching them catholic education. I was the first kinder student of the school She was very loving to the children and the poor people. I heard from my mother that she was very friendly, compassionate, humble and charitable. She loved God much that's why she entered the convent. She was a great lover of the blessed Mother. She has a great devotion m the Blessed Sacrament and the rosary. Mother Rosario was a woman of prayer.

I am always praying that Mother Rosario will be beatified. I believe she is in heaven because of the holy life she led while here on earth.
