THE MOTHER ROSARIO BULLETIN 12

April 11, 2009 is resurrection Sunday. If there is one very important event in the life of Jesus Christ, it is His resurrection because this event proved to the world that Jesus Christ was God. Had He not resurrected we could simply classify Him as one of the prophets not as the Son of God which He always claimed He was.

Mother Rosario's life was a witness to the resurrection. All the sacrifices she bore, the deprivation she suffered, and the acceptance of poverty and simple living were proofs that she hoped for the glory that only God could give her. She believed there was a beatific vision and only the following of Christ could entitle her to attain such grace.

Her love for God and her hope for the resurrection gave her a magnanimous heart ready to bear all hardships, self denial, and trials for the sake of that love..... thus Mother Rosario believed and was a witness to the resurrection.

The Congregation which she founded continues her dream of spiritual renewal. If by the grace of God Mother Rosario will be beatified it is only right and proper that the Sisters have to live a life in imitation of the foundress.

We are all expected to be spiritually renewed and to be sincerely devoted to the Blessed Mother through the holy rosary which were the reasons for the foundation of the Congregation. May the beatification of Mother Rosario which we all expect strengthen our faith in the resurrection and the glory that is to come.

The MRAC Journey
(Mother Rosario Arroyo Commission)

The promotion of the cause for beatification of Mother Rosario is going on. Prayer leaflets and her brief biography are being distributed to students in schools to the community and the sick in the hospitals.

Activities are being planned to celebrate her 53rd death anniversary on June 14, 2009, the 84th Foundation Day of the Congregation on July 25, 2009 and the opening of the Diocesan Process for her beatification on October 7, 2009.

The members of the tribunal were appointed by Archbishop Angel Lagdameo to investigate the life and virtues of Mother Rosario that will qualify her to be numbered among the Blessed ones.

We are thankful and grateful to those who are helping promote the cause. Let us all pray for her beatification.

Goodness has a ripple effect. Helen Keller said, "When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.

Unlike other testimonies, I personally don't know Mother Sayong. I have not even heard about her not until the time that I too became a beneficiary of her goodness. I simply considered myself as one among hundreds of young boys who readily answered, " I want to become a priest," every time I was asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" That is the reason why I consider my testimony as something unique.

My priesthood is a pure grace from God. He is the source of everything and He-chose me to become one. But, lacking in almost everything except for my desire to serve the Lord full time, I was very lucky to be qualified as a full scholar of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary founded by Mother Rosario. That was the time I knew about her. I finished my seminary formation practically sponsored by the congregation, not as a Dominican priest but as a Diocesan.

Presently assigned as Chaplain of the West Visayas State University Medical Center, I am "fiery" enthusiastic to forward the cause of Mother Sayong's beatification. I am now busy distributing leaflets to make her life known to others, as well as prayer leaflets to those who are sick. I may not have seen her or know her personally, but the lives of thousands including my own that were influenced, affected and moved by the ripples of Mother Sayong's efforts, undeniably are the fruits of her goodness. " So then, you will know them by their fruits." Matthew 7:20

I really hope that Mother Rosario will be counted among the saints. I also wish it for all of you and of course for myself. This is not ambitious. This is our basic calling. My spiritual director told me once, "Desire to become a saint, for unless you become one, you cannot enter heaven."

Mother Sayong for me was a person who made a durable difference in the world. Through the Congregation she founded she continues to inspire the lives of young women and men who do the same to others. Her life may be very simple but, she mastered some few great things that made her life and others lives count. Her life, like a pebble, made a ripple effect that reached the ends of the earth and became great waves rolling on into eternity.

My father worked with the Arroyo family since he was 15 years old. When the parents of Mother Rosario died my father transferred to Beaterio de Molo as a maintenance worker in the convent. Later he worked in the farm of the congregation .

Mother Sayong as we use to call her was very compassionate, caring and generous especially to her workers in the convent.

When I was still small I used to gather kangkong vegetables with my friends and we sold it to our neighbors. When we could not sell all and it was late in the afternoon, we used to go to Mother Sayong in the convent. She would buy our kangkong or exchange it with rice. She would invite us to pray the rosary with her in the chapel.

When I was a teen-ager I worked in the convent for three years assisting Mother Sayong in her personal needs. I prayed the rosary with her. When Mother Sayong died my father told us that he smelled fragrant fresh flowers during her funeral. I believe Mother Sayong is a Saint.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life gift in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Favor Received

I am sorry it has taken me so long to tell the story as to what happened to me last October, 2008.

I am 45 years old, female, single with physical defect (hump-back). I write to you to give my testimonial account of a miracle that happened to me when I was sick, critically sick.

On September 4, 2008, 1 was rushed to Iloilo Doctors' Hospital and was immediately intubated for my doctor was afraid I would go into coma. I was diagnosed to have Pulmonary Obstruction with pneumonia stage 4 with water on the right lung and heart failure stage 2 with edema on the lower extremities. The most crucial time would be when the tube must be removed, after more than a month. The doctor never thought that I could make it but I did. I easily breathed without such machine. My doctor almost could not believe it. In fact the words he uttered after the tube was removed, was "the prayer did make it." He claimed it to be a miracle because we were seven patients he handled of the same case and I was the only one who survived. Even two weeks after I was released from the hospital (October 8, 20008) my doctor told me when he checked me up in his clinic that he really claimed what happened to me was a miracle.

In this regard, I testify that my healing was indeed a miracle because the night before the tube was removed I sensed that my room was full of love from the people praying for me. When I was released from the hospital my friends told me that they made a prayer request to the Dominican Sisters in Molo for the intercessory intervention to God by Mother Rosario Arroyo for healing at the crucial moment of my life. The prayers of those who loved and cared for me and the congregation moved God to answer our prayers.

I thank God for the favor He granted  me through Mother Rosario and the Dominican Sisters. I promise to pray for the beatification of Mother Rosario Arroyo and encourage others to do the same.

PRAISE BE GOD NOW AND FOREVER!!!
