THE MOTHER ROSARIO BULLETIN 7

As I lay down on my hospital bed for two weeks, various thoughts came to my mind. Foremost among them was the feeling of love and gratitude. Indeed it was the sweetest fl ower that bloomed in the garden of the human heart. But what was there to be grateful about? During my recent sickness I had come to the following realizations. As a Dominican Sister I did not have any regrets. When I think of vocation, mine included I couldn’t but feel and realize the help Mother Rosario had given to me. I knew there was not much problem when one was strong and healthy but this is not the real fact now. Situations like what I felt when the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak (I knew I had many companions in this kind of situation and I was happy to be counted) made me further realize how grateful I was to Mother Sayong who from her generous heart the Congregation had been founded and sustained. To all the Dominican Sisters of Molo, we have become recipient of the great heritage Mother Rosario has left to us. This is a consolation because we are confi dent that Mother Rosario has provided for our material needs. What then should our response be? We are working for the cause of her beatifi cation. It becomes therefore our responsibility to participate in this noble task. What have we done so far? Everyone can do something and must do something because the most effective thing to do is to pray and all of us can do it. Nothing can
hinder us from praying; not even sickness because this is the best time to do it. God loves those who are weak, who suffer and who are in distress. This is a very great opportunity for us to do something. We pray and we let others know the need for the beatifi cation. In the event that God grants our prayers for the beatifi cation of Mother Rosario we have a strong motivation and inspiration to imitate her, to follow in her footsteps. Only then can we say that Mother Rosario’s aspirations and efforts are fulfilled and realized.

O Madre Rosario nga amon ginapasidunggan

Nga sang Dios sa imo gin-aman.
Ikaw nagkabuhi diri sa kalibutan
Para tadlungon ang banas sang iban
Ehemplo ka nga tuod sang tanan
Gani kami ang sa imo nagapalangga man.
Ang imo misyon diri sa kalibutan

Our salvation was infi nitely costly to God but it is absolutely free to us. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 6:23)

LIFE AND VIRTUES OF MOTHER ROSARIO
Let us see what the Dominican Laity Dao Chapter has to say about the life
and virtues of Mother Rosario.

Binalaybay para kay Mother Rosario
By: Mary Welhelmina Dela Cruz, OP
President, Dominician Laity , Dao Chapter, Dao, Capiz

Gikan sa Molo, binun-ag, Rosario Arroyo
Pinili kag palangga sang aton Guino-o
Paghigugma, pagpangamuyo kag pagtuo,
Nangin sadsaran, kag bahin sang kabuhi mo.
Natawo nga yara sa kahamungayaan,
Pero ginpili pangabuhi sa kaimulan,
Malulo kag maloloy-on ang pamatasan
Siya mahugod sa pagserbisyo sa tanan.
Mangaranon kag matinuohon ang ginikanan
Nagdaku maayo halimbawa sa kabataan,
Nagsulod siya bilang madre nga dominican
Higugma kag pagalagad sa Dios ang kabangdanan.
Sa mga katawhan handa sa pag-alagad
Wala kondisyon ang iya pagpanghatag,
Duna nga kaalwan sa iya ang manggad,
Pagpakasantos nasulat sa iya palad.
Mabakod kag mapag-on ang iya padtu-o,
Nahimong maayong huwaran nga Kristiano
Adlaw kag gab-i ang pagsanto rosaryo
Maukod nga gintutun-an ni Jesukristo.
Simple nga pangabuhi iya ginpili,
Pagpuasa kag pagpenitensya ginkabuhi,
Mapalapnag lang ang Pulong sang Dios nga buhi.
Gintugyan sa Guino-o iya kalag nga hamili.
Una nga Superyora Heneral sang congregation,
Madre Sayong padayon nga huwaran sang iya tion,
Nagpangabudlay maangkon ang kabuhing Diosnon,
Kaluwasan, himaya sa langit iya naagum.
Gani mga kaupod ko nga mga Dominican,
Ipalapnag kay Mother Rosario nga binuhatan,
Ipangamuyo ang milagro nga kinahanglan,
Agud ma “beatify’ kag magasantos sa kalibutaan.

FAVOR RECEIVED
By: Mrs. Daphne Magno
Date of Birth: November 27, 1946
Address: 663 Capt. Tirador Street
Janiuay, Iloilo
(This is my testimony of the utmost help given by God to Carel Mae through the prayers of Mother Rosario Arroyo, OP.)

In June , 2008 I received a leafl et with the prayer for Mother Rosario requesting people to pray for her beatifi cation. I told the charismatic group to pray so we will have an Ilonga Saint who could understand
us better.

On October 6, 2008 our school bus bumped Carel Mae on the National Highway in Matag-ub, Janiuay, Iloilo. It was raining very hard and Carel Mae immediately ran to the other side of the road upon getting off from a passenger jeepney. She sustained a severe head injury. Carel Mae was brought to the Janiuay District Hospital but was rushed to Don Benito Hospital in Iloilo City as the doctor was afraid she might not “make it”. I was trembling when we reached the hospital and I went to the chapel and beg Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal for help. I was told that Carel Mae most likely cannot survive as the blood oozed out from her mouth, nose and ears and her eyes were heavily swollen. Mrs. Marissa Gerardino (mother of one of our students who was with me) said that when she pushed Carel Mae’s hair to the back some brain particles got stuck in the palm of her hands. Carel Mae was in coma. We were told by the doctors that Carel Mae would live only for 72 hours or if she survived she would be a “vegetable’. She cannot be operated because there was a cracked at the base of her skull and her brain was covered with blood. I was worried because her adoptive parents were dead and nobody would take care of her when she lives and just become a “ vegetable”. I started to petition Mother Rosario to pray for Carel Mae’s full recovery. Surprisingly Carel Mae has great improvement everyday and was discharged from the hospital last November 8, 2008 at 4:30 P. M. amidst the ‘Ohs” and “Ahs” of those who knew her situation in the hospital. She could walk and talk and had returned to normal. The medical staff could only say it was “amazing and unbelievable”. It was a “miracle”. I believed in my heart that it was through the prayers of Mother Rosario that Carel Mae had survived. I still continue asking for Mother Rosario’s help especially for Carel Mae.

Testimonies:

1. Sr. Gemma Magnetico, OP
Dominican Sister of Molo
Date of Birth; November 24, 1932
Place of Birth; Maasin, Iloilo

I started visiting the different Congregations of Sisters in Iloilo City after my high school graduation but I was not inspired during those search-ins. After I finished college I visited frequently the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Molo. I saw Mother Rosario teaching catechism to the poor people from San Jose Street. I use to visit the convent on Sundays and I learned that Mother Rosario was very rich and the only daughter but she entered the convent. I also learned that she has an ardent love for the Blessed Mother and she has a great devotion to the holy rosary. Her presence with the poor and teaching the Sunday gospel has touched me. Mother Rosario’s charism gave me a strong desire to become a Dominican Sister. I entered the convent on June 2, 1957 just 13 days before Mother Rosario died. I believed that my love for teaching catechism was an inspiration from the charism of Mother Rosario. In my apostolate of teaching catechism, I even went to the poor rural areas and I asked Mother Rosario to accompany me. I was given the courage in times of diffi culty. I know that Mother Rosario lived a holy life in this world and I am sure she is now in heaven.

2. Sr. Pilar Dionela, OP
Dominican Sister of Molo
Date of Birth: March 15, 1928
Place of Birth: Pandan, Antique

I was still small when I dreamed of becoming a nun. I was born from a very pious family and we use to go to church daily. When I was in college I met two Dominican Sisters teaching in Aklan College. I became closed to them. When I fi nished the teaching course I went to Molo and I presented myself to Mother Rosario to become a nun. Mother Rosario was very welcoming, gentle and soft spoken. I was not afraid talking to her because she was motherly and always smiling. Mother Rosario has a great love for the Blessed Mother and she was very prayerful. I always saw her in the chapel praying before the Blessed Sacrament. During my clothing, she changed my name Hilaria to Sr. Pilar in honor of Our Lady of the Pillar. I am really convinced that she is now in heaven because she was very holy while here on earth.
